Laurie Plant

Laurie Plant makes location drawings & watercolours and with the help of photos develops kaleidoscopic paintings that are montages of cities, their architecture, icons and people. The paintings are made up from overlapping spaces and turning objects. The sculptures are made from prints of the paintings or watercolour studies and further subvert, twist or stretch perspectives down streets and create short-cuts around avenues.
His work hangs in public and corporate collections: New Star, Equimedia, New Swindon Company, Museum of Modern Art Wales. The 'Iconic Cities' series of paintings sell in such prestigious outlets as The National Portrait Gallery and Albert Hall. He has exhibited at RCA, Discerning Eye, ArtSway, and The Corinium Museum. Plant has an MA from University of Wales and a First Class BA from Lancaster University and now teaches in schools, museums and art centres and lectures for University of Wales. His helpful knowledge and understanding of the links between Art History, Theory and Practice make his courses distinctive. Look out for Laurie’s workshop at Prema in early April this year.
