Sophie Levi - Cornish Harbours

This is the first exhibition in Cornwall of one Britain’s freshest contemporary painters, Sophie Levi. The artist’s direct and honest approach brings alive many of Cornwall’s most beautiful locations including depictions of Porthleven, Mevagissey and Newlyn. The artist describes her fascination with working in Cornwall ‘I paint outside in the elements, focusing particularly on working fishing ports and seaside culture. I am drawn to Cornwall’s coast and fishing ports since they have so much to overwhelm – with their contrasts of wide openness and ragged detail’.
